Someone Else's Children (1958) is a feature-length psychological portrait of a family life in Tbilisi in the 1950s. Nato meets two children in the street, and becomes their friend. The children's father, Dato, whose wife had died, recently parted with a girl he loved, Teo, because she couldn't get on with the kids. Having married Dato, Nato takes the children's upbringing in her hands, and even drops out of college. But the families happiness soon falls to pieces.
