ManaQ 1 is cute n good.... ManaQ 2... sequel and not so. Typical 1980's romance-fantasy for teens with comical bad guys, etc. A little sexiness and good music thrown in as well.

The first movie is vintage eighties with a decent theme song. When this movie came out it was so much fun to watch. The lovable loser played by Andrew gets a job at the luxury department, and finds love with the spunky mannequin played by Kim. She comes to life only around him, and only when they are alone, so people think he is eccentric at best. Plenty of villains trying to ruin their happiness, including a prissy James Spader. Hollywood the window stylist boss has a pink Cadillac and comic quips galore about his lack of love life, and old boyfriends. The second Mannequin is goofy, and what would have been the second B movie at the drive in back in the day.

As ridiculous as the plot is; a store window-dresser falling in love with a mannequin who has come to life, this one is a favorite of mine! Romantic and hilarious, this is Andrew McCarthy at his best. If you don't take it too seriously, you'll find yourself laughing hysterically at Hollywood's crazy antics. He certainly steals the show, but all the actors and actresses do a great job. Some great talent is featured here; Kim Catrell, Estelle Getty and James Spader. This is a film that I never tire of watching and one of my favorite romantic comedies of the 1980's. Great music, too!
As for the sequel, Mannequin 2 On The Move, I don't recall ever having seen it but that probably speaks for itself.
