This is one of my favorite books by Grisham, despite the fact that all the action does not happen in a courtroom. Great read for the beach or a rainy weekend

This is a great book. It is my first John Grisham novel but from what I have read elsewhere, it is the best. It was exciting and often humorous at times. I was impressed by the journey of faith that was woven into the story...a true representation of what it means to come into relationship with Christ, not the stereotypical picture that is seen in so many books and media.

This is somewhat different from Grisham's other books because a lot of the story takes place in the Pantanal region of Brazil. In addition, the main character's struggles with addiction and the exploration of the characters religious beliefs, in my opinion, make this somewhat more thought provoking. This has a bit more that the usual entertaining critique of the imperfect American legal system.

Grisham's stories are interesting and reveal his loathing of lawyers.

This was my first (hopefully in a long list of many) John Grisham book (I've been meaning to read one for years). I thought this was a great book to start with. I really enjoyed the beginning where the family of a extremely rich guy (Donald Trump-esque) are waiting for him to die, and then when he does die they are waiting to see how much of his billions they are each getting. The relatives of the guy are repulsive in every way possible and feel assured that they are getting a good cut of his money, so they are spending all "their" money in the most obscene ways possible. Then the will is finally read out and they have been cut out of it. It's quite funny.

My absolute favorite of all the John Grisham novels. This is definitely a page turner. He takes you in two very different worlds, with very different people. The characters are fascinating! I was pulled in from the very beginning and stayed hooked until the end.

This took me by surprise, not what I was used to reading by Mr. Grisham. I really enjoyed it.
