I am glad CJ Box wrote about how egregious the foster care system of children in the US continues to be in present day. April, Joe's foster daughter is unfortunate in not getting her adoption approved before her worthless mother who abandoned her years ago, shows back up. CJ also writes about the FBI, and federal agents being more worried about political fallout than the human lives in standoffs like Ruby Ridge and Waco. The story has a new friend Nate R. who Joe helps, and the Pickett family befriends the reclusive special ops agent. I am really enjoying this series.

Wish this was in paperback or hardcopy. A lot of us do not do ebooks. Bought the book at a used book store so I could read the book 3 of the Joe Pickett Series. Glad I did. It was very good reading. Hope the library buys a hardcopy for the rest of the population so they too can read the series.

The third book in CJ Box's Joe Pickett series, Winterkill is excellent all around. Box brings the Pickett family and their Wyoming surroundings into even more compelling detail. A read worthy of your time!
