Add a CommentI've watched this series on TV and loved it. To bad this one was also not made for TV. The book of course has a lot more character detail about Phryne & Dot. I look forward to reading all the books in this series.
One of the better books in the series. Miss Fisher and her companion Dot take a luxury cruise to find some jewel thieves. Historical New Zealand, tales of legendary ships (and sometimes their wrecks) and life aboard cruise chip in the 20s add background to this lively mystery. Who's stealing the gems? Who are all these people on this ship and this cruise? And what are some of them up to? Miss Fisher has fun with this one and you will too.

This is one of the best books in this very enjoyable series. Phryne and Dot are on a luxury cruise to New Zealand. The multiple plots are engaging, and the descriptions of visiting New Zealand in 1928 are fascinating. This whole series is excellent, though some books are better than others. This one is great fun!
Greenwood's Phryne Fisher series is divine and Death by Water is one of my favourites. Extremely well written with larger than life and absolutely likeable characters I can't recommend Phryne highly enough.
