a great Sarah Dessen novel. I liked all the characters, Remy, her friends, her co-workers and Dexter and his friends. It was a great story about learning to risk your heart and love someone. Dessen's writing style is funny and smooth, which makes this book an easy and enjoyable read.

This one may be older, but it is still relevant today to any teens who are on the road to self discovery or have ever been in love.

This book almost blended a bit into the background for me, in comparison with the other books written by this very author. So here, you have Remy, a girl who thinks she knows all about relationships. But unlike many protagonists, she's flawed, and almost a bit more real. Then she meets Dexter, this completely different guy. And I am guessing that everyone can predict the rest. Apparently for many people the relationship felt real. But throughout the book, I had a lot of difficulty relating to her. I read this a while ago, so this may not be as accurate, but I didn't feel a particular spark and connection. However, it might just be me. 3.5/5 Stars

This was my first Sarah Dessen book and I did enjoy it. It wasn't fantastic, but perfect for what I wanted and what I was expecting I fell in love with Dexter and it really is a great read.

This Lullaby is my favourite book; it is funny, romantic, and truly flawless. Reading from the perspective of eighteen year old Remy is extremely interesting; Remy was raised by a mother who had five different husbands leading Remy not to believe in love. Remy has dating down to a science with one very strict rule: no musicians. The reason Remy has created this rule is because her biological father was a musician, and he left her, her brother and her mother when Remy was young. Remy has her whole life planned out until she meets Dexter. Remy meets Dexter by chance at her new stepdads car dealership Remy finds Dexter annoying and irritating, until they meet again. Dexter breaks every rule Remy has about love; he is messy, loud, unorganized and worst of all a musician. Much to her dismay, Remy finds herself falling for him. The story of Remy and Dexter is exciting, fun, flirtatious, and heartbreaking all at the same time. While you read this book you will cry, laugh, and just want more. This is the first Sarah Dessen book I have read and it will definitely not be the last. I love everything about this book including the title; the title makes you interested, and it relates to the book effectively (This Lullaby is the name of a song that Remy’s father wrote for her). Another reason why you will love this book is because the characters are developed very well. An example of this is how Remy goes from a cynical pessimist when it comes to love to a girl who follows her instincts. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

"Watching him go. What a weird feeling that was. I decided I didn't like it. Not at all" (Dessen 203).

"I saw her in the produce section late last Saturday. It hadn't been but seven days since she went away. Once she'd loved my filet mignon, my carnivore inklings, but now she was a vegan princess, living off of beans. She'd given up the cheese and bacon, sworn off Burger King, and when I wouldn't do the same she gave me back my ring. I stood there my the romaine lettuce, feeling my heart pine, wishing that this meatless beauty still would be all mine. She turned around to go to checkout, fifteen items or less. And I knew this was the last go-round, so this is what I said.
Don't you ever give me no rotten tomato, 'cause all I ever wanted was your sweet potato. Mashed, whipped, creamed, smothered, chunked, and diced, anyway you fix it baby sure tastes nice."

"You know, when it works, love is pretty amazing. It's not overrated. There's a reason for all those songs."
