In the same style as the author’s previous world 'The Widow Clicquot', Tilar Mazzeo has presented a thoughtful and very well researched book on the history of the Chanel No 5 perfume. The book includes the story behind the development of the fragrance, and the stories behind the people involved in that development, including 'Coco' Chanel. If you want the biography of 'Coco' Chanel, choose another book, as this one focuses on the fragrance and it's history.

I wear Chanel perfumes so that's why I borrowed this book at all. Some interesting notes about Coco Chanel's life and technical details about how the perfume is actually made but you have to wade thru a lot of info to find them. It was a tedious book but I plodded thru it hoping it would get better. It didn't.
