I re-visited this movie after many year, nearly forgetting about it, but thankful that I kept it in my collection. There's a reason I kept it. I kept it because it's my favorite kind of story: a story of personal redemption. Baseball dominates this story, but it is really only the backdrop to the story of a man haunted by a broken relationship with his father, and who has a chance to redeem that relationship, but initially, without really fully understanding it. The title of this movie is perfect (and the one WP Kinsella originally wanted for his book). This baseball diamond in Iowa is a place where dreams come true, for Joe, for Archie, for Terence, and most especially, for John and Ray.
