This quiet chronicle of a day in a young toddler's life is one of the best picture books I've seen in years. The story follows a baby just learning to walk as he kisses his big sister and mom goodbye for the day, and makes his way through a late-autumn day with his dad. The story has a compelling, yet soothing rhythm, and the illustrations depict the mundane angles and objects of the baby's life--changing table, stroller, parent leaning over crib--with an accuracy rarely seen. My toddler daughter was spellbound and wanted to have this book read to her five times in a row when I first brought it home.
