I am not knowledgable about ballet and lived in NYC for years without attending a single performance of the NYC Ballet, but this movie only makes me regret my oversight. This movie is an account of what goes into an NYCB production and the takeaway for me was that it's extremely hard work. Justin Peck's original new ballet is the focus, and Peck oversees every aspect. He was only 25 years old, but his low-key approach to what is involved in the finished production impressed me as well as his dedicated, polite interactions regarding company matters. The filming was done with hand-held cameras. There is no drama, no conflicts - this isn't a scripted "story" as such. Running time is only 75 minutes and it's an interesting peek into a world with which I was unfamiliar.
