Having had finished 'The Witcher 3', I was immersed in a world that I struggled to let go of. The vivid characters, the dirty 'low fantasy' genre, and the world itself made me yearn for more. No place better to go than the source material that inspired the games, right? For fans of the games, you will likely enjoy this book. The introduction of characters and the tones through with they speak with are much the same as they are portrayed in games (I tip my hat to the producers for authenticity). The writing style is an interesting one. Each chapter is a snippet of a story, sometimes relating to the previous one, sometimes weeks later and in an unfamiliar setting. It allows one to cut out the monotonous days/weeks/months/ of travel and boring dialogue with villagers and the like. I read somewhere that the first 2 or 3 books in the series are written in this style, before the author moved to a more fluid and continuous writing style. I look forward to see how that plays out. I highly recommend this as a way to extend the world and learn more about the characters. Though the writing style was a bit confusing at first, it became much more functional as I continued to read, and started thinking about each snippet as a 'mini adventure' all tales bundled together to well portray the life of a witcher.
