Carry On was like a different take on Harry Potter. There are a few similarities, but its more like someone wrote a fan fiction about the set of books. Which is exactly what happens in Rainbow’s other book, Fangirl. The book has mages who can perform magic spells, (that all seem to be in the form of rhymes) magical creatures, and a chosen one. Carry On goes more into vampires, which I loved. Rating: 5/5 @IVYBooks of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library I absolutely loved everything about Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. I found out about this book because in Rainbow Rowell’s other book, Fangirl, the main character Cath read the Simon Snow series, which is what Carry On is about. The book, about a magical school called Watford, clearly bears a great resemblance to the world famous Harry Potter series, but I think that was the authors intention. I love this book because of the combined fantasy, mystery, and romance, and all of the wonderful and lovable characters. I would recommend reading this book if you enjoyed Fangirl and if you are a fan of Harry Potter. I rate this book 9.5/10 stars. @bookaholic of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board I have always been a big fan of Rainbow Rowell but I was iffy about her new book, Carry On. It's about this boy wizard named Simon Snow - the chosen one, the savior of the wizarding world - and his quest to fulfill his destiny while proving that his roommate and sworn enemy Baz Pitch is a vampire. Here's the twist, they secretly care for each other, maybe more than they should. It was a pleasant surprise to read it and enjoy. It wasn't a life-changing book and I wasn't expecting it to be because it's supposed to be an overall light-hearted book about love and destiny. None of the characters lacked any depth and while the world may share some similarities to the Harry Potter universe, it has its own uniqueness and originality that I really liked. Overall, an absolute joy to read. Rainbow Rowell has yet to fail me! @Spectacles of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
