Another Louise Penny gem. Burying one's dead is a rich theme in this tale: The fallen soldiers, both English and French, on the contested Plains of Abraham; the Quebecois body found in an "English" historical society basement; the quest to find the remains of Samuel de Champlain; the ghosts from Gamache's past, who continue to haunt him in diverse and painful ways. Apart from the pleasure of listening to this, my takeaway was a deeper understanding of early Canadian history, especially that of the city of Quebec. It is truly fascinating to read about the life of Champlain: (Best to wait till you finish the book to visit this link.) http://www.champlainsociety.ca/discovery-of-the-baptismal-certificate-of-samuel-de-champlain/
