Now that he’s older, Mort Lear—a children’s book author and artist some reviewers think based on Maurice Sendak—lives in a house among the trees in rural Connecticut. Glass’s book tells his story and that of friends and associates, all with their own ‘investment’ in Morty’s life. Beautifully told, the story really becomes one of the boy Ivo in his most famous book, and the question for those who love Morty of who will know and tell his story. It left this reader to ponder who will tell my own. Good question.
