Ok, if you compare it to Hugh Grant's now *classic* roles that are modern favorites, this one doesn't hold up. But, if you take it at face value, it's a nice, light movie with a phenomenal cast of characters and a pleasant romantic comedy. It's entertaining. I'm also just a bit of a sucker for *teacher* movies, so it works for me. The ensemble cast of Marisa Tomei, Allison Janney, Chris Elliott (the least obnoxious I've ever seen him), J.K. Simmons, and some other sweet, fresh faces all lent some really wonderful and funny moments to the story. And Hugh Grant, well, he was Hugh Grant (maybe not at his finest, but endearing, smart, out-of-place, and entertaining.) Give it a chance on a rainy day to brighten your day just enough.
