Princess and the Fangirl
Princess and the Fangirl A Geekerella Fairy Tale By Poston, Ashley eBook - 2019

The actress starring in a major SciFi blockbuster reboot can’t wait to be done with all the conventions and the fans, but Imogen thinks her favourite character deserves more to be fridged and she starts a campaign to save Jess’s character from being killed off. Second of Poston’s Once Upon a Con series, but can be read as a stand-alone that is also a twist on the Prince and the Pauper, where Jess and Imogen happen to look alike and pretend to be the other to save Jess’s reputation.

I actually enjoyed this one a bit more than the first. The characters seemed more real, mostly Jess who is quite unlikable for the first half or even 2/3 of the book. I loved Imogen throughout the whole of it. It gives you all the fun fandom energy from the first one. There's also the added love interest for both girls which is always a great addition. I enjoyed the mistaken identity hi-jinks as well as the light mystery of who was leaking the script (which was a bit predictable but enjoyable nonetheless), but there are still a few fun twists I quite enjoyed. You get some fun familiar faces if you have read the first one and also some great side characters (in Imogen’s family and both the love interests). Overall another fun, light read in the Geekerella ‘verse. Again, not for those wanting serious and gritty. But couldn’t we all use some geeky fun!?
