As with all French novels, the writing style is impeccable, with a simple poetic flow that I have come to love. The only problem I had with this one was that getting off the ground was a little sluggish. But what I find a tad boring, championing to get to the action, would seem exciting to some. I'm not taking stars off for this. The writers have their own way of drawing out a story that is an absolute master of French. The novel is not scary, nor is it difficult. At the relaxed and evocative end of the scale, I would put it. Though it's me. There are scenes that might be difficult to read for those that have trouble with animal cruelty.
