Characters: 7/10 Plot: 7/10 Writing: 9/10 Audio: 8/10 Though I thought this was a suitable ending to the trilogy, I felt more distanced from the characters than I had been in the first or second books. I think this may be rooted in the fact that, though this is a children's/middle grade series, most of the POV characters are adults. In Inkheart, I felt pretty rooted in Meggie's perspective for the most part. This started to change more in Inkspell, but by Inkdeath we rarely get Meggie's perspective, and are more often hearing Mo's, Resa's, Orpheus's, or Dustfinger's perspectives. In part because there are so many POV's (I haven't counted, but I think it's around a dozen) and most of them are adults, it makes this feel a bit strange for a middle grade book. The story is certainly suitable for children, but the characters aren't themselves kids. In addition, the actual silvertongue magic is used less and less in the series, and that was a huge part of the appeal of the first book. All in all, I enjoyed it, but the first book will always be my favorite.
